In 2009, I wrote about the possibility of a casino on Long Island, but so far, it hasn't happened. But will things change now? Lawmakers in New York State are currently discussing --behind closed doors-- a Long Island casino that would have 2000 video lottery machines at various OTB sites in both Nassau and Suffolk counties, according to News 12.
One suggestion for a location would be by the Nassau-Suffolk border. Or there could be two casinos, each featuring 1000 video slot machines.
This age-old controversy continues. Those would want a casino here point out their view that jobs would be created and that a facility with video slot machines would also bring money to New York State. It would be a huge tourist attraction as well, they contend.
Yet opponents of the idea have a number of worries about such a proposal, including crowded streets, problems with parking, an unsavory element introduced into the area, and more.
What do you think? Please leave a comment below.
