Huntington Hospital will present its annual gala, the Black & White Ball, at Oheka Castle on Thursday, December 3rd. Cocktails start at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8. There will be a Vegas-style casino, musical entertainment, and live auction.

Dog lovers and wine lovers, unite! Take your pet to Dog Day Afternoon at Bedell Cellars, 36225 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY, on Friday, November 27th from 2 to 5 p.m.

The dog-friendly event will offer a number of activities and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the North Fork Animal Welfare League in Southold. Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

• The Winery Dogs of New York book signing by author Marjorie Adams


• Southold retailer and doggie day care company, Dogtown, will offer a Doggie Snack Bar featuring specialty baked goods for dogs as well as canine-friendly retail items.


• Dog Photo Studio. Professional photographer Randee Daddonna will take portrait photos of pooches for holiday cards. Portraits will be posted on her website at Randee Daddonna and available for purchase as holiday cards.


• Pooch Parade featuring Adoptable Dogs from the North Fork Animal Welfare League at 3 p.m.

There will also be another kind of dog for sale ---hot dogs -- and wine tastings in Bedell's tasting room.

On Saturday, November 21, enjoy the exuberant music of Metropolitan Klezmer, whose sounds blend traditional Yiddish music with Latin jazz, swing and more. The Village Voice hailed their performances as "electrifying." There will be a pre-concert discussion at 7 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be held at Temple Tikvah, 3315 Hillside avenue in New Hyde Park, NY. Tickets purchased in advance are $22 for temple members, $27 for non-members, $10 for children under 16. At the door, tickets are $36.
