An Otter-ly Fun Contest

Friday May 16, 2008
Shakespeare wrote, in Romeo and Juliet, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Although, as Shakespeare pointed out, names don't really change someone's (or something's) essence, we still find it important to name things including, apparently, otters. When Atlantis Marine World opens it's new exhibit, Otter Falls, it will also welcome the exhibit's still unnamed inhabitants, two North American river otters. The aquarium's staff invites the public to help them select monikers for them.

Voters can vote for their favorite set of names, from among four options, for this male and female pair: Bonnie and Clyde, Sally and Linus, Georgie and Gracie, and PB and J. To vote go to the Atlantis Marine World Web Site between now and 12:01 a.m. on June 27. Atlantis staff will randomly select one winner (and up to four family members) from among the contest entrants to receive a behind-the-scenes peek at the otter exhibit and an invitation to attend the exclusive after hours grand opening celebration event on Sunday, June 29, the day Otter Falls officially opens.
