UPDATE: I just received word that the deadline has been extended. Entries are now due no later than May 21, 2010.
The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF), Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and Public Enemy present their first spoken word poetry contest.
The contest calls for entrants to write a long poem about their home on Long Island, download an original music track composed by DJ Johnny Juice (Public Enemy), and submit a recording of their performance of the spoken word reading set to the three-minute music track. The deadline for entries is May 21, 2010.
DMC and Chuck D (Public Enemy) will judge the finalists in three
categories: grades 1-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12. Winners will receive
their choice of Band Hero™ or DJ Hero™ (age permitting). Full details about the contest are available at http://limusichalloffame.org/pdfs/spokenword.pdf
