Long Island offers a wealth of natural wonder, and kids in 1st to 3rd grades can become naturalist explorers inside a salt marsh habitat. From Monday, August 16, 2010 to Friday, August 20th, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. each day, children can embark on an adventure to learn about salt marshes and estuaries. Set at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Dr. Erwin J. Ernst Conservation Center, located in an 88-acre wetlands preserve at West Meadow Creek, this breeding ground for marine life will provide a look into the world of plants, animals and grasses that thrive in the marsh ecosystem.

An instructor will guide the students who will record their findings in theor own explorere notebooks and discover the fascinating world of the salt marshes on Long Island. Cost: $100 plus small fee for supplies. To reserve a spot, please contact the Ward Melville Hertiage Organization at (631) 651-2244.
