Airbnb Members Offer Free Rooms To Hurricane Sandy Victims

By November 9, 2012

Follow me on:

There are still over 160,000 customers without power, according to LIPA's website. Without electricity or heat, these victims of Hurricane Sandy and the nor'easter are in desperate need.

I received an e-mail from airbnb.com, a service which generally lists available rooms, whole houses or apartments for long-term or short-term rent. Currently, almost 600 airbnb members are offering Sandy victims a place to stay for free. I did a quick search on the site and realize that most of these places are in the five boroughs, but there may be some listings on Long Island, NY. If you use this service, please let me know how it works out.

If you and yours have been stranded by Hurricane Sandy, you can view a list of available, free spaces at https://www.airbnb.com/s?collection_id=7046134.
