The American Cancer Society has designated today, Thursday, November 15, 2012 as the 37th Great American Smokeout and is encouraging smokers to use this date to make plans to quit or to quit smoking today. They say that quitting, even if just for one day, will show smokers that this is an important step towards a healthier life that can lead to a reduction in the risk of cancer.
On their website, www.cancer.org, the write that tobacco use is "the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S."
