It's the battle of the furry weathermen. Who's the more accurate prognosticator? This morning, Saturday, February 2, 2013, Groundhog Day, Punxatawney Phil, the grand groundhog, did not see his shadow... a sign that an early spring and warmer temperatures are on the way. But Long Island's own Malverne Mel begs to disagree. This morning, he apparently did see his shadow, and that indicates that we'll have six more weeks of wintry weather.
So which groundhog knows his stuff? All allegiance to Long Island, New York's furry friend aside, I'd like to think that we can expect the chilly weather to subside. But why did Malverne Mel have such bad news for us? Could it be that he drank too many Long Island Iced Teas before hibernating?

I’m going to have to agree with you, Monica. I’d like this cold weather to be a thing of the past!
