It's Friday morning, February 8, 2013, and it doesn't look great out there. Since the Long Island, NY area and beyond is expected to continue to get snow today and into Saturday morning, I thought I'd mention some safety tips from the National Weather Service:
They say that if you're at home or work, stay inside, of course. Make sure you have flashlights with extra batteries, a battery-powered NOAA weather radio or regular radio, non-perishable food and water, any medicine that you might need.
They advise that if you find yourself without power or heat that you should close off doors to rooms you're not using, to stuff towels in cracks under your doors and to cover your windows at night. Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing.
Let's hope this storm is over without any bad consequences.
How are things out by you? Please leave a comment below.
