Top 5 Food Banks on Long Island

From Dawn Rosenberg McKay, for About.com

Everyday on Long Island there are thousands of people who are hungry. There are food banks located in Nassau and Suffolk County that help provide food to many of them. These food banks distribute food to local soup kitchens and food pantries who in turn feed those in need. Here are five of Long Island's largest food banks. They accept donations of food, money, and other goods and services.

1. The Interfaith Nutrition Network (The Inn)

This Hempstead-based organization operates soup kitchens in both Nassau County and Suffolk County. If you want to donate one of these things or if you have something else in mind, contact Island Harvest at (516) 294-8528.
