In the past, Long Island was known far and wide for its duck farming. It all started in the 1930s when Peking ducks were imported from China to Long Island and duck farming proliferated on the island. At that time, duck farmers here produced millions of birds that graced the plates of restaurants offering the delicacy of Long Island duck.
