The unique, whimsical building inspired passing motorists and others to stop by and buy real ducks at the store during its heyday. Although the area no longer has as many duck farms as in the past, Long Island's very own "big bird" still attracts visitors young and old.
Inside you'll find "duck-a-bilia" and Long Island souvenirs for sale as well as tourist information. The bird has "migrated" a number of times to several locations on Long Island, but now nests happily in its current permanent home in Flanders. The Big Duck also "roosts" on the National Register of Historic Places.
