The Riverhead Foundation's director and senior biologist, Robert DiGiovanni, was onboard during our seal cruise. He's holding a green sea turtle shell, one of several natural objects that are available for passengers to examine. He explains that the largest of hard shell turtles can weigh 500 pounds.

Sea turtles found in New York's water include the endangered Kemp's Ridley sea turtle, loggerhead sea turtle, Atlantic green sea turtle and the leatherback sea turtle.
