It's alwyas fun to take the whole family to amusement parks, where rides big and small bring hours of fun. For the youngest family members, there are also carousels to ride as calliope music fills the air. Here's a listing of Long Island's amusement parks, rides and twirling carousels.
1. Adventureland
Opened in 1962, Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale features thrilling rides like the Hurricane Coaster, Pirate Ship and Ghost House. For the kids, there are tamer rides like the Flying Puppies and Kiddie Carousel. There are water rides too, like Adventure Falls, where you'll zoom down a river, and Crocodile Run, where you stand atop an artificial reptile as it spins and swirls in the water.
Please note: no smoking or alcoholic drinks allowed. No open-toed shoes or flip flops on rides. There is no admission to enter the park, but you must pay for rides.

2. Bayville Adventure Park
From Bradley Bay's Rock Climbing Challenge to the Jungle Tree Top Adventure, Bungee Bounce in the Adventure Dome and other thrilling experiences, Bayville Adventure Park offers exciting rides, miniature golf, an indoor arcade and much more, all across the street from the beach.
During Halloween, the amusement venue turns into Bayville Scream Park. The park is even open for several days a week in the winter. Check the website for hours, prices and specials. You can even hold your child's birthday party here.

3. Boomers! Medford
Boomers! Medfordfeatures Go Karts, Bumper Boats, Kiddie Rides, a rock wall, batting cages, miniature golf and more. The family fun center is open year round, but during the winter, outdoor attractions are closed and the indoor park is only open on weekends and days when schools are closed.

4. Greenport Antique Carousel
The carousel is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer. During the off-season, it's open on weekends and holidays. Call for current prices.

5. Historic Nunley's Carousel at Museum Row
Built in 1912 by the Stein and Goldstein Artistic Carousel Co. of Brooklyn New York, Nunley's Carousel was lovingly restored and boasts 41 horses and one majestic lion.
The cost is $2 per ride, and every person on the carousel must have a ticket. Hours: from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

6. Splish Splash Water Park
