Traveling to Kismet
While you can get to Kismet by driving to Robert Moses State Park and walking, you may choose to get there by ferry, water taxi or private boat. There is a large commercial marina for those who arrive by private boat. If you want to take the Ferry or a water taxi, drive to the Bay Shore ferry terminal and park your car in the parking lot. If you don't plan to drive to the ferry, there are a variety of modes of transportation you can use.
- From Manhattan: Take the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station, located at W. 34th Street and Seventh Avenue to Bay Shore (Bay Shore LIRR Schedule). Then take a taxi from the LIRR station to the Bay Shore ferry terminal.
- From JFK International Airport: One option is to take a taxi from the airport to Bay Shore. You can also take the AirTrain to the LIRR Jamaica Station and get a train to Bay Shore and a taxi to the Bay Shore Ferry Terminal.
- From LaGuardia International Airport or Macarthur Airport: Take a taxi to the Bay Shore ferry terminal.
Taking a Ferry or Water Taxi to Kismet from Bay Shore:
- Fire Island Ferries: The ferry terminal is located on Maple Avenue in Bay Shore.
- Fire Island Water Taxi: You can take a water taxi from the Bay Shore Ferry Terminal. During the summer, the Water Taxi also travels between Fire Island communities. Look for information about lateral service on the Fire Island Water Taxi Web Site.
