How to Get to Southampton

By Car: Southampton is just over 90 miles from midtown Manhattan. It will take, without traffic, almost two hours to get there. Traffic is likely though, particularly on weekends.

Public Transportation

  • Long Island Railroad from Manhattan: Take the LIRR from Penn Station, located at W. 34th Street and Seventh Avenue to Southampton (Southampton LIRR Schedule). Hamptons Reserve Service is available in the Summer.
  • From JFK International Airport: Take the AirTrain to the LIRR Jamaica Station and get a train to Southampton.
  • LaGuardia International Airport or Macarthur Airport: Take a taxi to Southampton.
  • Hampton Jitney: The Hampton Jitney provides motorcoach bus service from Manhattan, Queens (convenenient to JFK and LaGuardia), and Islip (near MacArthur Airport).
