The Huntington Lighthouse was constructed by the Charles Meade Company of New York from 1910-1912. The
Beaux Arts-style tower soars 42 feet into the air. Its original light was fueled by kerosene and then later by electricity. In the 1980s, the federal government was poised to demolish the historic structure, but the
Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society successfully campaigned to stop the destruction of the building.
The Huntington Lighthouse is located on a constructed island at the entrance to Huntington Harbor. The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society is currently restoring the structure and it is only open in the spring and summer.
