The Nassau County Museum of Art, One Museum Drive, Roslyn Harbor, features exhibits of major artists in its Gold Coast Georgian mansion from the early 20th century. Beyond the elegant mansion, visitors can wander through 145 acres of fields, woods, ponds and formal gardens. Throughout the lush property, sculptures large and small adorn the outdoor setting. Created by renowned artists including Niki de Saint Phalle, Fernando Botero and Tom Otterness, the sculptures add to the enjoyment of the museum and its sprawling property.
One of the first works of art that greets visitors is
Caring by Chaim Gross. It depicts a mother and child, and was a gift of Solomon K. Gross to the museum in memory of the children who died in the Holocaust.
