Wednesday, April 1
- What: Gardening with Children. Learn from a master gardener from Cornell Cooperative, who'll teach you and your child or grandchild how to develop your green thumbs. Call ahead for reservations.

- What: FIRST FRIDAYS. Every first Friday of the month, the Heckscher Museum of Art offers free admission after 5 p.m. From 7 to 8:30 p.m., you'll enjoy live musical entertainment and light refreshments.

- What: Children will enjoy the whimsical exhibit, Babar's Museum of Art at the Tee Ridder MiniArt Museum, with drawings of famous paintings featuring the added faces and frames of Babar the elephant and his friends.

- What: I-CON 28, a three-day festival of science, science fiction and fantasy will feature guest speakers including Holly Black, author of The Spiderwick Chronicals, as well as John Rennie, Editor-in-Chief of Scientific American, NASA Consultant Dr. Maggie Turnbull and former NASA program head Marc Mills. On Saturday, April 4, the I-CON Masquerade Ball will be held at the Holiday Inn in Ronkonkoma.

- What: Movin' Out, the Tony Award-winning musical ---conceived, choreographed and directed by Twyla Tharp. Based on 24 songs composed by Long Island's own Billy Joel.

- What: 16th Annual Spring Egg Hunt. Kids of all ages will enjoy searching for hidden eggs. There will be three ages groups: four and under, five to six, and seven to nine.The Spring Bunny will make a stop to the park, and there will be games and live animals.

- What: The Pet Safe Coalition, Nassau County's Animal Response Team, is dedicated to reaching out to the 620,000+ cat and dog owners with the message of being prepared for an emergency. This weekend, the organization has arranged for representatives from the national disaster response agency, Noah's Wish, to train an animal disaster response team.

- What:The Northport Community Orchestra in Concert. Under the direction of Richard Hyman, the orchestra will feature cellist Peter Handford performing Kol Nidre by Max Bruch. The program will also include Haydn's Symphony No. 104 and works by Betthoven and Rossini.
