It's time to get ready for the holidays and think about where to go to combat cabin fever. From holiday concerts to visits to adorned houses and even a Dickens Festival, there's plenty to do on Long Island this month.
Family Sunday at the Museum. Each Sunday, the Nassau County Museum of Art offers a 1 p.m. docent-led family walk-through of the exhibition, and beginning at 1:30 p.m., supervised art activities for the whole family. Family Sunday at the Museum is free with museum admission. The Nassau County Museum of Art is located at One Museum Drive (just off Northern Boulevard, Route 25A, two traffic lights west of Glen Cove Rd.) in Roslyn Harbor. Admission to the main building PLUS the Art Space for Children is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62+) and $4 for students and children ages 4-12. These prices include admission to the MiniArtMuseum for Children.

Peter Max, featuring an exhibition of drawings and paintings by this acclaimed contemporary artist at the Nassau County Museum of Art, One Museum Drive (just off Northern Boulevard), Roslyn Harbor. Saturday, December 7, 2013Old Westbury Gardens,71 Old Westbury Road, will be open tot eh public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be decorated period rooms, Santa will be there, and cookies and cider will be available. $8/general admission, $5/seiors and children 3 to 17, free for members.
Drop-in activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Children's Holiday Crafts.
First Night and Tree Lighting from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Westbury House will be decked in all its holiday splendor. There will be live holiday music featuring a performance by members of the Bethel Concert choir, a visit from Santa, light refreshments and a tree lighting ceremony on the South Terrace at 8:15 p.m. $10 per person, $5 for members and children 3 to 12, member's children free. Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 201335th Annual Candlelight House Tour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Join the Three Village Historical for a tour showcasing select local homes dressed for the holidays by a team of local decorators. Each home will have a staff of docents to point out the architectual features and furnishings as well as the historic details of each house.

Christmas at Hallockville, from 12 noon till 3:30 p.m. From 12 noon till 3:30 p.m. Christmas at Hallockville. Experience the traditions of a Victorian Christmas in the Hallock homestead and Polish Christmas in the Cichanowicz farmhouse. Admission: $8/adults, $6/museum members, $4/children ages 6 - 12, FREE for ages 5 and under, $18 for group of two adults and two children. Admission includes children's activities, woodworking demos, an antique toy exhibit, horse-drawn carriage rides, traditional holiday music, plus fresh-baked mince tart, babkas, cider and hot chocolate.
Santa will arrive at 2:30 p.m. Local vendors will sell their local produce and gifts. The Hallockville Bake Shop will sell homemade goodies.

Guitar Extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center - Five Towns College, 305 North Service Road, Dix Hills, NY. From their website: "…..small groups, guitar ensembles, guitar orchestras, vocalists and the Tony Mottola Recording Ensemble will keep raising the thermostat.
