Guide Review - Review of Wild Flours - Gluten Free Bakery and Cafe in Huntington, NY

Although primarily a bakery, Wild Flours, just south of Main Street in Huntington, offers a pleasant space with four tables where you can sit down and enjoy your freshly baked purchases. Don't confuse the concept of gluten free with diminished taste. Wild Flours features some of the tastiest scones, muffins, loaves of bread, cookies, brownies, cakes and pies and much more.

My husband and I visited the cozy, relaxing space to enjoy a quick snack, but we walked in just as the luscious focaccia came out of the oven, so we ordered two of those along with our desserts. The gluten-free focaccia was tasty, thick yet moist, and brimmed with fresh tomatoes, garlic, spices and more. It was one of the best that I've ever tasted.

For dessert, we thoroughly enjoyed the cranberry orange scones which were sweetened with agave syrup, along with herbal tea.

If you're gluten intolerant, this is the place for you, but I would recommend these exquisite baked goods to everyone. All of the goods at Wild Flours are not only gluten free, but also dairy free and they're sweetened without refined sugar. They typically use organic agave syrup, maple syrup or unrefined cane sugar, so many items are also suitable for most diabetics.

The owners, however, do caution that although their facility is gluten, dairy and nut-free, they can't guarantee that all the ingredients they use have come from sterile production facilities.

Organic or free range eggs are used in their products, and their dried fruits are also organic. Fresh fruit used in their products are organic when possible.

Their coffee is organically grown on estate farms and then imported and small batch roasted by Long Island's Hampton Coffee Company.

Wild Flours features holiday menus as well as platters and baskets for parties, corporate meetings and gifts.
