Guide Review - Limani Restaurant Review
Limani means "seaport" in Greek, and this restaurant serves wonderful Mediterranean seafood in a decidedly upscale setting. Their seafood display, with an ample variety of fresh fish on ice, allows you to choose your dinner.
The appetizers come in large portions and are amazingly delicious. Start with a plate of Greek spreads, including skordalia, a garlic lover's dream puree of almonds and garlic, melitzanosalata (an eggplant and garlic puree) and other delectable foods. The saganaki -- pan-fried Greek kefalograviera cheese -- is also a good choice.
Service is excellent here, and don't be surprised when a veritable army of servers comes to your table, each with his/her own specialty. For our entree, my husband and I chose the whole fresh Dover sole, which was excellent, but you can choose from a wide variety of seafood, including Arctic char flown in from Iceland, fagri (a firm and meaty snapper flown in from Greece), Nova Scotia deep sea lobster, salmon, halibut, turbot sole and more.
Side dishes are delightful. With our meal, we enjoyed the horta, a savory Greek blend of red, white and gold Swiss chard, escarole, dandelions and spinach.
Dessert is a must. You haven't tasted real yogurt until you've tried Yaourti, authentic Greek yogurt, served with luscious thyme honey and walnuts. The Ekmek -- a divine blend of phyllo, custard, and pistachio whipped cream -- is also noteworthy.
Wines are served by the glass or by the bottle, and include Greek, Italian, French and American wines.
