The winter holidays. This is a time for reflecting on the year that is about to end, savoring time with family, and enjoying delicious food. It's also a time of wonder wonder about what we are going to do with our children for an entire week at home. Wonder no more. Here are activities you and your children can enjoy together.
Long Island Children's Museum
The Long Island Children's Museum has many fun programs planned for holiday recess

- Holiday Jam with Ben Rudnick and Friends
Saturday, December 22nd and Sunday, December 23rd, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Sing along with this blue grass ensemble.
Ages 3 and up; $3 with museum admission ($6 for theater only), $2 for LICM members.
- Winter Tales
Saturday, December 22nd and Sunday, December 23rd at 3 p.m.
Listen to traditional folktales about the season from around the world. Children then create their own pop-up books based on their favorite folktales.
Ages 5 and up; $3 with museum admission, $2 for LICM members).
- Kids First Jr. Critics Club: Winter Holiday Stories and More
Monday, December 24th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Spend the afternoon listening to holiday stories.
Ages 3 and up; Kids First Jr. Critics Club Fee is $3 with museum admission ($6 Club only), $2 LICM members.
Garvies Point Museum and Preserve
The holiday recess coincides with Dinosaur Week at Garvies Point Museum and Preserve. Here is a list of films being shown there to celebrate this event. Please see their Web site for more information.

Cradle of Aviation Museum: Space Explorers Holiday Camp
Family programs that center around the moon take place daily from December 26th through December 29th, 9:30 a.m. to noon
Children, ages 9 to 13, will learn what it takes to become an astronaut and what astronauts do when they are in space. They will use the museum's new Space Explorers Shuttle Simulator to learn how to launch and land the space shuttle. $150 per child ($130 for museum members)
Grandparent Drop-In Days at the Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages
Wednesday, December 26th and Thursday, December 27th from noon to 3 p.m.
Children and their grandparents (free admission for one grandparent per child) are invited to see Norman Rockwell's 323 Saturday Evening Post Covers.
Sweetbriar Nature Center: Holiday Discovery Camp
Wednesday, December 26th through Friday, December 28th and Monday, December 31st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children, ages five to eleven, can attend all sessions ($250) or on individual days ($60).
