Labor Day Weekend on Long Island 2008

How to Celebrate Labor Day

From Dawn Rosenberg McKay, for About.com

Labor Day, which is celebrated each year on the first Monday of September, pays tribute to American workers. Although summer actually ends on September 22, we think of Labor Day Weekend as the last official weekend of the summer, an occasion to be celebrated with fireworks, races and other fun events. It's almost as if we're saying "Party now ... the dark days of winter are coming soon."
