It's the morning after a snow storm has blanketed Long Island and you have to get to a meeting in Queens. Before you pull out of your driveway, you need to find out what the travel conditions are.

Travelinfony.com, from the New York State Department of Transportation, provides the latest weather and road condition information for roads throughout New York State, including the Long Island Expressway, Northern State Parkway, and the Southern State Parkway. Clicking on The Winter Travel Advisory system brings you to a page that features a color-coded map of state highways denoting their real-time surface conditions as reported by snow plow drivers, New York State Police, toll collectors and other staff. When you use the Winter Travel Advisory you can learn which state roads are snow covered, ice covered, wet, dry, experiencing white-out conditions, or closed.

"This Winter Traveler Advisory System provides useful information about Long Island’s state roadway conditions to help motorists make knowledgeable, safe decisions about driving during harsh weather," said NYSDOT Regional Director, Subi Chakraborti.
