What was your best or worst present?

The worst gift? I've gotten a few bad gifts over the years, beginning with a bingo game my sister gave me when I was seven or eight years old for Christmas. She had wanted me to go halfsies buying the very same game with our allowances over the summer and I told her I didn't like to play bingo. So when mom gave each of us money to buy a gift for each other, my sister went and bought me a game SHE wanted to play.

What was your reaction?

My "inside" reaction was thinking my older sister was a selfish person. But I thanked her for it and did play it with her a few times. Playing BINGO with your bossy older sister is not much fun. I gave her a yarn craft kit with pink yarn, styrofoam ball, and two plastic eyes. It came with instructions on how to make an octopus with eight braided legs. She loved that octopus. She kept it on the pillow of her bed in the bedroom we shared. I wasn't allowed to touch it!

Lessons Learned

  • Funny how a childhood memory will stick with you for years. Maybe I'm still holding a grudge, I should get over it! I do love my sister.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's true that sometimes childhood memories last a lifetime.
